the tree project

hiroshi sunairi and the tree project deserves the first little bit on this site--
what a simple and touching and big-minded project. had the luck to stumble into a show at the horticultural society of new york gallery,
during a trip to the city earlier this year. the artist, who is originally from japan, has been distributing seeds from second and third generation trees that survived the atomic bombing in hiroshima. these trees --which include persimmon, jujube and several others, are all called hibaku trees.

he has been sharing this miracle seeds--a testimony to rebirth and peace--with people around the world and they plant them. some photograph their new little trees, and some of these seedlings were exhibited. here are a few photos i took at the show.
